What do we mean by the word “hack”? Urban dictionary defines it as “A clever or elegant technical accomplishment, especially one with a playful or prankish bent”. OK but how do we hack life for a better future?
Well, first let's see how we perceive a better future. For some individuals, a better future is getting hired by a top recruiter in his/her field of work, or a future in which one’s mode of transportation levels up in terms of luxury or comfort. So a better future is yours to define but however you perceive it, you can always count on undermentioned hacks.
Learn them all and let us know which one of the following you will try first.
1. Keep your Budget
Starting from the very basic and essential student life hack, and that is money. If one learns how to manage the money till the very end of the month, they will never go out. Make a list of your daily or monthly finances, let go of the stuff that costs a lot and is of no use. Save the money that goes on junk food; it will keep your bank account filled and health fit.
2. Prioritize your nightly sleep
College and university students are notorious for having bad sleep habits. But sticking to a consistent sleep schedule is one of the most beneficial life hacks for students. By getting at least eight hours of quality sleep every night, you can maximize your health, memory, ability to learn, and much more.
3. Make a vision board
Being able to see your biggest goals visually represented in one place can help you stay inspired and motivated, particularly in those moments when you question why you're making so much effort.
4. Befriend the smartest, hardest-working, and most enthusiastic people
Basically, make friends with the kind of people you actually admire and can learn from. Their good habits may rub off on you, and they may have different skill sets that complement your own. Plus, they probably stand a higher chance of achieving great success, which could make them super valuable members of your network down the line.
5. Put time and effort into your own ideas and projects
You don't necessarily have to become an entrepreneur, but working on the things you're most passionate about (as much as possible) will keep you more engaged in life. Not everything has to be about work or school.
6. Stay physically active
By developing your own fitness routine, you'll improve your health, energy, memory, and overall disposition. Plus, regular exercise helps you look your best, which makes you feel more confident. (Having a sedentary lifestyle tends to do the opposite.) If you don't like exercising alone, look into joining an intramural sports team.
7. Drive from Your “WHY”
Every day you make a choice about how you show up in this world – at work, in your business, in life. Have a cause that drives you and a belief that inspires you.We fall short when we focus on what we do, and not what we stand for.Find the answer to the question, “Why do you do what you do?”
8. Drive from Your Life Style
For so many people, life makes more sense when they find a job where they can spend more time in their values and matches what they want their lifestyle to be.It’s easy to fall into the trap of chasing the idea that the grass is greener, or that the glory of the job is worth it, or that climbing the ladder will make life so much better. Going up the ladder, doesn’t necessarily mean spending more time doing what you love. Going up the ladder, doesn’t mean life gets better or easier. In fact, it often means more sacrifice and more responsibility that you might not want at this point in your life. Worse, it might mean you spend a lot less time doing what you love and spending a lot less time on your strengths.
9. Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude
“Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.” — Rabbi H Schachtel.
Acknowledgement and appreciation are the most powerful rewards on Earth. You can cultivate your attitude of gratitude by being thankful for the good choices you make during your day. Acknowledge and appreciate when you make the tough call, do the right thing, or take the high road. Whenever you can’t find a way to be grateful for what you’ve got, remind yourself how things can always be worse, and if you look for examples, you’ll find plenty. There is always somebody worse off than you.
10. Create a Feedback Loop
“Feedback is the breakfast of champions.” — Ken Blanchard.
The fastest way to improve with skill is to get a feedback loop that gives you data to learn and improve from. Find ways to build learning loops, where you can iterate on something, and get a little better each time. If you’re not getting the insight you need, fast enough, or relevant enough, then tighten your loop.
11. Embrace Change
It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” — Charles Darwin.
Change is a constant in our lives. If we embrace it, we can use it as an opportunity to let go of what’s not working, and carry forward what is. We can also use it to reinvent ourselves.
12. Ask Better Questions
What are some better questions you can start asking yourself?
